Research Progress on Mapping of Gene Conferring Resistance to Sheath Blight and Exploitation of Resistance Resources in Rice

Abstract Sheath blight is one of the major diseases in rice. The breeding and use of varieties resistant to sheath blight is crucial in controlling the disease. The mining of resistance resources, genetic research and mapping of sheath blight resistance genes, and utilization of gene resources in other species are the foundation in breeding sheath blightresistant varieties. This paper reviewed the mapping of loci conferring resistance to rice sheath blight, the evaluation of the potential value of QTLs controlling the resistance, and the latest progress on exploitation of resistance resources against the disease.
