    Open Access

Chinese Journal of Rice Science officially transitioned to an open access publishing model starting from the first issue of 2026. Upon publication, all articles are immediately and permanently available for free reading and download on the journal's official website. All articles published from 2009 to 2026 have been converted into open access works and are offered for free reading and downloading on this website. Articles published before 2009 are not yet made open access, but they are still available for free on this website with all rights reserved by the editorial office.

    Peer Review

The journal implements a rigorous peer-review system. After initial assessment by the editorial office, all submissions are sent to at least two experts in the relevant field for double-anonymized review. The review focuses on the scientific merit, innovation, and practical value of the research. The final decision on rejection or acceptance is made by the Editor-in-Chief

    User License

Chinese Journal of Rice Science uses a Creative Commons license. Permitted third-party reuse is defined by the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives (CC BY-NC-ND) license. This license allows  reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material, provided that the authorship is credited, the use is for non-commercial purposes, and no derivative works are created. For details, please visit https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/.

    Copyright Policy

Upon acceptance, authors are required to sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement with the editorial office, transferring copyright to the Chinese Journal of Rice Science Editorial Department. This means authors agree to publication in the journal and transfer rights including the rights of digital reproduction, distribution, compilation, and communication to the public via information networks to the editorial office. Authors agree to the open access policy of Chinese Journal of Rice Science. The copyright transfer fee is covered by  the journal’s one-time payment to the author. Under this premise, authors may still permit third parties to share their articles (e.g., by storing them in an institutional repository) in accordance with the aforementioned Creative Commons license and may also use them for other academic purposes.

    Article Processing Charge

To support open access publishing, the journal charges an article processing charge (APC). This fee needs to be covered by the authors, their institution, or their research funding projects. The specific standards are as follows: page charge is 400 RMB per printed page; charge for color page is 500 RMB per page; manuscript review fee is 300 RMB per submission.
